Medium — 43.5 cm length × 33.5 cm width × 22.5 cm height
Kittens and small adults up to about 3 kg. A good starter tray, or the spare in a one-cat home.
XL — 58 cm length × 37 cm width × 25 cm height
Most adult cats, large breeds like Maine Coons and Ragdolls, and serious diggers. The right pick for one cat, or two sharing.
Not sure? Go bigger. Cats rarely mind a tray that's too roomy, but they will avoid one that's too tight. If yours perches on the edge or hangs over the side, they've outgrown it.
Steel is far superior to plastic!
Plastic loses. Every scoop leaves scratches you can't see, and those scratches hold moisture, bacteria and urine. That's why an old litter box smells even after you've washed it. The odour isn't on the plastic, it's in it. So you replace it. Then you replace it again.
Steel is non-porous. Nothing soaks in, nothing clings on. It rinses back to bare metal in seconds, doesn't stain, and doesn't hold the smell of last month.
Open on purpose.
Hoods trap warm, damp air and concentrate ammonia, and your cat has their face in it every time. An open tray airs out and dries instead of stewing. It also traps the smell from you, so you clean it when it needs it rather than a week later.
Cats don't like being cornered either. One way out means no escape route, and a cat who avoids the box is the start of real urinary trouble. Open sides give them sightlines, which is why vets so often recommend uncovered trays. You also get to see changes in your cat's urine, one of the earliest signs something's wrong.
High sides keep litter in. The grate on the front lip catches what gets carried out on paws and drops it back in the tray.
One box, properly made, instead of a new one every year. Backed by a 2-year warranty.
Will it rust?
Stainless steel resists rust, but it isn't invincible. Rinse and dry it after cleaning, don't leave urine to pool, and avoid bleach or any chlorine-based cleaner. Treated that way it'll outlast several plastic boxes. It's covered by a 2-year warranty.
My cat is a digger. Will litter go everywhere?
The high sides contain most of it, and the grate on the front lip catches what gets carried out on paws and drops it back in the tray. A mat underneath handles the rest.
Won't an open box smell more?
It's the opposite over time. Hoods trap damp air and hold odour inside where you can't smell it, so the box gets cleaned less often. An open tray airs out and dries, and you notice when it needs doing.
My cat is used to a covered box. Will they switch?
Most do within a few days. Put the new one next to the old one, keep the same litter, and let them choose. Don't remove the old box until they've used the new one a few times.
How do I clean it?
Hot water and washing-up liquid, then dry it. No bleach, no chlorine cleaners, no steel wool.
Can I use my usual litter?
Yes. Clumping, crystal, wood pellet, paper — all fine.
Is it safe for my cat?
Every edge is covered by a rounded plastic rim, so there's no exposed metal to catch paws or hands.
What does the warranty cover?
Rust-through and structural defects for 2 years.
Everyone is switching to steel!

Our old plastic tray still smelled even after scrubbing it. The stainless-steel base is much easier to wash and doesn’t seem to hold onto odours. I wish we had changed sooner.

My cat is quite big and always looked cramped in his previous litter tray. The XL one gives him plenty of room to turn around, while the high sides help contain the mess.

I bought this because our plastic boxes became scratched and difficult to clean properly. The smooth metal base wipes clean easily and feels far more hygienic

Our old plastic box was covered in scratches that trapped dirt and odours. The stainless-steel base is smooth, easy to disinfect and feels much more hygienic..

No matter how hard I scrubbed our plastic tray, it never felt completely clean. This one washes out beautifully and doesn’t have lots of awkward corners where dirty litter can collect.

I clean the box just as regularly as before, but the litter area smells noticeably fresher. The stainless-steel base doesn’t retain that stale odour plastic boxes develop

This feels completely different from a flimsy plastic tray. The base is strong, stable and doesn’t look as though it will need replacing every year

I checked every edge before letting my cat use it, and everything was smooth. The upper surround also covers the rim of the metal tray nicely.

I have thrown away several scratched plastic trays over the years. This costs more initially, but the quality base makes it feel like far better value

The stainless steel stays fresher, resists scratching and is much easier to clean. Most importantly, our cat clearly prefers using it. Our old plastic box has now been thrown away.

The stainless-steel base feels solid when it is filled with litter. It doesn’t bow in the middle or flex when I lift it.

Shallow trays never worked for my male cat. The 25 cm height provides much better coverage and prevents urine from going over the sides.

I expected the plastic surround to be thin, but it feels sturdy and holds its shape well. It remains secure even when my cat leans against it.

The raised sides give my cat some privacy without making her feel trapped inside a hooded box. She accepted it immediately.

Finding a suitable box for a large cat has been difficult. The XL gives him much more space, and the sides are high enough to contain his digging.

The perforated entrance catches a surprising amount of litter as my cat steps out. I still use a mat, but there is far less litter travelling through the house.
